The Season has started and Wimbledon is coming

The Season is in full swing now. The Chelsea flower show has passed, Ascot and Wimbledon are coming up. In preparation for Wimbledon I have checked if the venue is in good order, the lawns are ready to receive the tennis and social elite. My verdict: all looks fine and I trust the strawberries & cream and Pimms will be ready as well.

Visit from Carinthia

I had a visit from a Carinthian delegation led by Oma today. Birgit, Dorli, Erika and Oma came to see spring in London and me ;) I asked Maman and Papa to prepare a barbeque. The whole delegation played with me and i had a lot of fun.

Half a year in the life of Max

Hi all,

The 24th of May marked my six month birthday. Maman and I went to check my weight which – at 7,450 grams – is now in line with other babies of my age. I have been catching up well from my early arrival. I am starting to teeth which sometimes causes quite a bit of pain, especially during the night. My first tooth will be the lower central cutting teeth (the right is just showing and we can feel the left one as well). I also train how to sit. It does not really work without support or help but I am trying hard. All of that has a purpose of course: on Tuesday I will start weaning – so look out for some messy photos in the coming weeks.

I also have some recent photos from my day trip to Leigh on Sea with Oriana, Monika & Herve and Mirza. It is just 50 minutes by train directly from the City and we found a nice seafood restaurant.

All the best,

Max

Yoga

Hi all,

I am going to yoga sessions with Maman once a week. It is more for Maman than for me, but even I get exhausted after looking at people working out. I also have a babysitter now. She came the second time to give my parents a break. This is also working out very well for me.

Royal Wedding and more

What a weekend! It happens only once in 30 years. It all started off with the Royal Wedding and the whole nation had a day off just for that – even Papa stayed at home. While sipping Champagne at the early hours of the day my parents seemed to plan my future trying to encourage me to marry the first daughter of Kate and Williams. I declared certain reservations and left it at that for the time being – only time will show.

On the next day, we came to visit Green Park – maybe the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would pop out of the palace and tell us their honeymoon destination. They did not… but at least I spent my first afternoon in the park – I am becoming a real Londoner.

On Sunday we went to the Canalway Cavalcade, the narrowboat festival in the canals of Little Venice. We saw so many beautifully decorated boats with little flags and market stalls where my parents found some nice clothes for me. We concluded the visit with a boat trip from Little Venice to the Camden Lock. This is a 45min ride passing by the London Zoo – what a delightful afternoon.

All the best,

Max

Swimming

Every Friday I go swimming with Maman. I like all the activity in the water but it is also very exhausting and after 30 minutes in the pool I am shattered. We found a good sized pool which is chlorine free. On the Royal Wedding day Papa had a day off work so he came with us to make some photos:

Easter holiday from A to B (Austria to Belgium)

Hi all,

I was back on the road travelling for Easter. First we went to the emperor’s city Vienna for a long weekend. We met with friends and watched the Vienna Marathon where Tante Nicki and Onkel Markus and Haile Gebreselassie ran the half marathon. We were invited to sleep at Nicki & Markus and so I also met Alessia again. Tante Nicki is so funny and I was giggling a lot with her.

From Vienna we flew straight to Brussels and from there Maman and I took a train to the Belgian seaside. We stayed in Knokke for the whole week until Easter Monday and Papa joined us for the Easter weekend. We met a lot of friends as well and I used my tent to seek some protection from the sun on the beach. I also said goodbye to my cot for the pram and changed into the seat.

Me and the world around me

I am going through a fundamental philosophical shift as how to view my environment. Until now I was under the impression that I co-exist with my environment, that I am my own self side by side similar entities but without ability for me to influence their fortunes or vice versa.

Suddenly I realised that I can use my hands to grab those things around me, move them and create my own environment. This was a disturbing thought at first. If I can change things maybe I can be changed myself as well. But then I came to realise that in fact I have been interacting since quite a while. When I cry to demand food, when I smile to demand a smile in return. I am excited where the path will take me. I see a promise of greatness.

All the best

First visit to Austria

I just came back from a week of ski holiday in Schladming-Reiteralm in Austria. This holiday boasts an impressive list of “firsts”

- First flight with an airplane
- First time in my native Austria
- First time I saw my Opa Robert
- First time I saw my cousin Alessia

So much to tell – let’s start in order. My parents and Mamy took my first plane from London Gatwick to Salzburg. Because of me my parents get priority seating on easyJet which means we can board the plane first ahead of everyone else.

From Salzburg we took a rental car to our big chalet directly on the slopes of the Reiteralm, a well known skiing resort which is a world cup venue and popular training area with national ski teams from around the world. We were welcomed by Oma and Opa. Oma saw me for the first time since immediately after my birth and was very impressed with how fast I am growing. Opa saw me the first time ever. Shortly thereafter Onkel Markus and Tante Nicki introduced me to my cousin Alessia. She is 14 months old and already a big girl. She was so kind to me.

We stayed for the whole week. The weather was fantastic. Thanks to Oma & Opa, Mamy, Tante & Onkel to look after me during the week. I understand the skiing was very good as well.

On the last day just before we flew back home to London we had a few hours to visit the city of Salzburg. I enjoyed the holiday very much. I can’t wait to grow older and go skiing myself one day.
